Italy to Ban Monsanto GMO Corn with 80% Public Support

21 Jul

“First India gives Monsanto a run for their ill-gotten money by refusing their patent applications, and now Italy, with the help of three Italian ministries, will try to undo Monsanto. A decree has been signed which will ban Monsanto’s MON810 maize, one of the two genetically modified crops currently legally grown in Europe and sold commercially.”

Leaky Gut Syndrome and GMO Foods

29 Jun

I started having IBS symptoms in my 30’s, right around the time GE food entered our food supply.  I just spent a day in the emergency room with my daughter who had severe pain in the belly/abdomen area, and it looks like IBS as well if it’s not something more serious.  I have a young cousin who has an inflammatory bowel disease, and I know of another college-aged person who has intestinal issues.  The ages of the other three are 18, 20 and approximately 22.  That makes, including myself, four people in my own little corner of the world who have developed digestive disorders within the past 20 years.  Coincidence?  Did our youth always have these problems in the past? I can’t bring myself to believe it.

“What you might not know about food is that much of what we eat in the U.S. has been genetically manipulated.  Corn and soy based products, oils, food additives and much more.  A large percentage of what you eat out of packages comes from GMO foods.  These foods have not been adequately studied to be safe for human consumption and overwhelming evidence shows that these foods cause leaky gut syndrome, heightened food allergies, autoimmune disease, and a number of inflammatory health issues.   The following video is a much watch.  Get educated about GMO and help spread the word.  Food is important.  Preserving it’s integrity for future generations is not an option.”

Sunday 26 May 2013

Protesters rallied in hundreds of cities across the Americas on Saturday as part of a global protest against seed giant Monsanto and the genetically modified food it produces.

Organisers said “March Against Monsanto” protests were held in 52 countries and 436 cities, including Los Angeles where demonstrators waved signs that read: “Real Food 4 Real People” and “Label GMOs, It’s Our Right to Know.”

Protesters gathered in Buenos Aires and other cities in Argentina, where Monsanto’s genetically modified soy and grains now command nearly 100 per cent of the market and the company’s Roundup-Ready chemicals are sprayed on fields throughout the year.

They carried signs saying: “Monsanto – Get out of Latin America.”

25 May

In yet another showing of their lack of concern towards the people who give them their jobs, Senators in Washington D.C. voted against a key GMO labeling amendment to the Farm bill. One that would have allowed states to decide to label the presence of genetically modified ingredients in food products.

Monsanto’s Harvest of Fear | Vanity Fair

4 May

You’ll notice that some of the things alluded to in this article as to what will happen in the future has already come to pass, such as the approval of GM crops of sugar beets and alfalfa.

In the Pilot Grove case, they finally reached a settlement in Sept. 2008 where the Pilot Grove farmer’s group would give $275,000 to fund local agricultural scholarships and will buy $1.1 million in Monsanto products over the next six years.  (Of course, anyone who buys and uses their seed will be in it for life.) The Pilot Grove Coop would develop and adopt a stewardship policy to avoid future patent infringement and would work with a third-party organization to provide training for employees.

Tomato patent

From Avaaz.org:

Dear Avaazers,

It’s unbelievable, but Monsanto and Co. are at it again. These profit-hungry biotech companies have found a way to exclusively ‘own’ something that freely belongs to us all — our food! But if we can pressure key European countries to slam the patent door shut on their destructive plans, we can stop this attack on our food. Help build the biggest food defense call ever by clicking here:

It’s unbelievable, but Monsanto and Co. are at it again. These profit-hungry biotech companies have found a way to exclusively ‘own’ something that freely belongs to us all — our food! They’re trying to patent away our everyday vegetables and fruits like cucumber, broccoli and melons, forcing growers to pay them and risk being sued if they don’t.

But we can stop them from buying up Mother Earth. Companies like Monsanto have found loopholes in European…
